Product Vision
How could AI better serve our aging population in Canada?
What if seniors could access an AI companion 24/7—without screens, passwords, or apps? Just familiar, simple communication?
“Having just written two books on AI and spent the year integrating it into an EdTech platform, my thoughts turned to how AI might better serve our aging population. Many of the seniors I met didn’t need medical advice or news—they just wanted someone to talk to in their own language.”
– Dr. Ken Wong, Presentria.ai, Sep 8, 2025

The Problem
Older adults (especially immigrants, Indigenous people, and non‑English speakers) experience silent loneliness, unexpressed emotional pain, and language exclusion, even while receiving medical care or living at home. This is a mental health support issue in our multicultural society.
Elders don’t need advice.
They need presence, voice, language, and routine.
For elders 65+, especially immigrants:
❌ Reading = hard
❌ Typing = hard
❌ Learning new apps = frustrating
✅ Talking and listening = natural
Why current solutions fail:
• Text-heavy mobile apps assume good vision and digital literacy
• Hotlines assume English/French fluency
• Human counselors are expensive, scarce, and not on-demand
• Robots and advanced devices create cost + adoption barriers
Our solution is voice-first, screen-optional, and cognitively gentle.

Connect Anytime, Your Way
Elders can reach their AI Companion 24/7 through the communication method they’re most comfortable with—voice call, SMS, or WhatsApp.
Proactive Daily Check-Ins
The AI Companion can automatically call elders at their preferred time each day, providing friendly check-ins, conversation, and peace of mind.
IDEA #1 :
Voice‑First AI Companion for Elders (Phone-based, No App)
What it is:
“A multilingual, voice-based AI companion that speaks their native language, remembers their stories, checks in emotionally, and keeps them company—without requiring smartphones, apps, or screens.”
Why this is brilliant
- ✅ Works on any phone (landline included)
- ✅ No font size issues
- ✅ No app downloads
- ✅ Extremely low friction
- ✅ Familiar behavior (making phone calls)
- ✅ Perfect for elders
- ✅ Scales nationally
How it works:
- The AI Companion engages elders in warm, meaningful conversations with gentle questions, such as:
- “How are you feeling today?”
- “Did you take your medicine?”
- “Would you like to hear a song?”
- “Tell me something about your childhood.”
- If the AI detects a potential emergency or concerning situation, it automatically alerts the designated caregiver or emergency contact via email and/or SMS.
- Caregivers can receive a Weekly Family Digest — a warm Sunday email highlighting meaningful conversations, happy moments, and gentle wellness updates from the past week.
- The AI Companion does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice.
- Available AI Companion Voices:
- Margaret (English)
- François (French)
- Maria (Italian)
- Ling (Cantonese)
- Saathi (Punjabi)
- More voices and languages coming soon.
Meet Margaret — the companion who calls your mom every day
Watch (90 seconds)
We leverage modern multilingual speech models so elders can speak in the language they’re emotionally fluent in, not just English or French.

Special Features of Presentria AI

Remembers every conversation
Margaret retains what matters — names, stories, health notes, and little preferences — so every call picks up where the last one left off. It feels like a continuation, never a first meeting.

Weekly Family Digest
Every Sunday evening, caregivers receive a warm email summary of their loved one’s week — the stories they shared, how their spirits have been, and anything worth keeping an eye on.

Safety alerts for family
When something needs attention — a concerning conversation, or several missed calls in a row — designated family caregivers are alerted right away by email and SMS, so a quiet phone never goes unnoticed.

Speaks their language
English, French, Cantonese, Punjabi, Italian — with more on the way. Presentria’s companions converse in the language your loved one dreams in, with the cultural warmth to match.
And the little touches that matter: Margaret remembers birthdays and calls to celebrate — song included. She knows the local weather before suggesting a walk. And she’s always up for a bit of fun — trivia, wordplay, and reminiscing over the music of their era.
“Why not just use a chatbot?”
Because your mom shouldn’t need an app, an account, or a lesson.
Margaret calls first. Chatbots wait to be asked. Presentria reaches out proactively, every day, at the time your family chooses.
No app. No device. No learning curve. Margaret calls the phone they’ve used for fifty years — landline or mobile, no smartphone required.
She remembers — and she tells the family. General AI tools forget the moment you close the tab. Margaret carries their stories week after week and keeps caregivers in the loop.
She knows when to worry, and who to tell. A missed call, a conversation that raises concern — Presentria is built to notice, and to alert the right person immediately.

IDEA #2 :
Voice‑First AI Companion for Elders (Smart Speakers)
What it is:
“A multilingual, voice-based AI companion that elders talk to daily in their native language. It is a culturally-aware, multilingual AI companion for everyday emotional presence.”
How it works:
- Runs on:
- Smart speakers (Google Nest, Alexa, Apple HomePod)
- Optional tablet with giant text
- The elder just talks:
- “How am I feeling today?”
- “Can you tell me a story?”
- “Sing me an old song from my country”
- “Remind me to take my pills”
- Escalation only if explicitly necessary (e.g., “Would you like me to notify a family member?”)
- This system does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice.
We want to support Canadians on their aging journey with dignity.

IDEA #3 :
Voice‑Activated AI Pendant or Wearable Companion
What it is:
“A discreet, wearable device (like a pendant or smartwatch band) that acts as a “talking companion” via voice only—no apps or screens needed. It uses built-in mics/speakers for daily check-ins. Integrate with existing medical alert pendant.
How it works:
- Elders just press a button to talk
- The elder just talks:
- “How’re you doing?”
- “Can you tell me a story?”
- “Sing me an old song from my country”
- “Remind me to take my pills”
- Escalation only if explicitly necessary (e.g., “Would you like me to notify a family member?”)
- This system does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice.
